IMD was founded in 2002 by Andrew Dawson and Philip Neame. Andrew and Philip had a vision to bring mobile computing solutions for business within the competence of all. They identified the need to create a constraint free environment which could be deployed extremely quickly and easily, and be used by people who didn’t need to have a programmer’s background. Thus began development of a new concept, which is now called Integral mForms®.

The innovation and scope of the product attracted seed funding in 2004. This enabled the management team to be strengthened by the appointment of John Foster in Sales and Marketing, and the company to pursue its goal of making Integral mForms® the IT Professional’s tool-set of first choice for creating and deploying mobile business applications.

This strategy has achieved a leading position for Integral mForms® in a number of areas. The product is now used by an increasing number of blue-chip companies and IMD has established a dynamic and fast-growing network of partners and resellers.

This success attracted the attention of the OLM Group, the UK’s largest independent supplier of information solutions for children’s and adult services, who were quick to recognise the strength of IMD’s products and services and its excellent competitive position. Both parties saw the benefits to IMD, in this fast growing market, of the company operating with the backing and support of a larger group which was itself a market leader in its sector. In early 2007, IMD agreed to be acquired by OLM so that it could further develop its technical leadership, broaden its customer base and drive into new markets.

This marks a logical next phase in the development of IMD as the market for mobile data increases hugely year on year. In addition, IMD’s products will be used to complement and enhance OLM’s suite of mobile solutions, enabling an even broader base of social care professionals to improve efficiency through remote working.
